Psalm 97:10,
“Let those who love the Lord hate evil,
for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.”
~I’m
in shock. Not at the Word, but at those who label themselves Christian. I know
that I said in a post that I was done with the political posts however, as I
was praying over my sermon for the week the Lord directed me in a different
direction. It is probably only for this post, but I couldn’t stop thinking
about two different texts as I would look at social media and news.
You
see, I stand firm on certain issues and I do not shy away from those beliefs;
even if I must seem that I’m joking about it. Am I supposed to keep my mouth
shut? Well, the world would have me to. They despise what I say. They even tell
me that I’m wrong. I know they even harbor some hatred toward me because of the
things that I post and rant about. But, if I think about things and let it
build up it’s as if I just can’t keep it in.
I
wonder how these Christians go to church and hear the Word of God in all its
glory? Do they just hear what they want to hear? Are their pastors afraid to
preach the full counsel of God? Do they read the Word of God for themselves?
When they read the Word of God is it only what they want to hear?
Earlier
I read an article of a pastor that said there are “three things that pastors
should do after this election”. Three things? Only three things?! Let’s do more
than pamper the souls of those who approve of murder, lying, deception, hurting
the brethren. If we do love God should we not love the things that He loves and
hate what He hates? After all, the text says, “Those who love the Lord hate
evil.” If a man does not hate what God hates what is he?
Two
other verses stick out. Christ said in Matthew 10:33, “But whosoever
shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in
heaven.” We do not merely deny Christ by our words. We deny Him by our actions
and those things that we allow. Those things that we fight for. He also reminds
His disciples that no one has left their loved ones for Him.
If there is one
thing that truly shows peoples true passion, their true beliefs, it’s an
election. Christ said that it isn’t what comes out of the mouth that is sin, it’s
what’s in the heart. Those things that our in hearts come from several things
such as our background, our upbringing, our relationships, but more than that
the heart is not the right place to gain insight. Jeremiah 17:9 states, “The
heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure.” When we allow the heart
to guide us we are almost always to be led astray.
All elections
cause some degree of dissension and tension between parties, but none more than
this one; the 2016 election. I didn’t believe the chatter that this election
was going to be the biggest election in U.S history. In the aftermath, I would
have to say that it was. We had a far-left wing democrat who had did some
corrupted things running against a hard-hitting business man that has said some
very harsh things. What made this election the biggest election in U.S history
was the divisiveness. It also demonstrated how people were and still being led
by their heart. Again, when we allow our hearts to “rule” our thoughts we are
led astray.
I’ve heard
everything from, “What would God do?” to “What would Christ say?” If we are
going to go by that standard let us again look at the Word (if I’m dealing with
true born again Christians), “There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
haughty eyes, (verse 17a)
a lying tongue, (verse 17b)
hands that shed innocent blood, (verse 17c)
a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community” (Proverbs
6:16-19).
Please
pay very close attention to verse 17. If we put certain “personal” beliefs
above that which God hates what does that make us? There are several things
that I could point out, but for example let’s look at Planned Parenthood. Some,
even some that I love dearly, have argued that Planned Parenthood is good. What
is so good about taking an innocent life because that person can’t stand up and
fight for themselves. Ok so, what if there was a life or death situation
between the mother or the baby? Let me just say this, I would lay my life down
for my kids. If you wouldn’t then be glad that your mother didn’t feel the same
way. As far as abortion clinics go there have been multiple clinics that were
shut down due to breaking the law. It doesn’t take long in the Google search
engine to find these clinics. You might say that abortion isn’t what Planned
Parenthood is all about. I would say if it wasn’t then take away the abortion
clinics and go back to the good ol’ sex education classes. There is just no
justification of murdering an innocent life.
I
can easily put Hillary in all of verse seventeen. That’s not the whole point of
this article. As I stated in my video we witnessed the democratic process of
our great nation and Hillary was gracious in her concession speech. The point
of this article is to point out the blackness in the Christian voter’s hearts.
When a Christian picks out a candidate that supports things that God abhors
then I think that salvation should be evaluated. Yes, we all sin, but I don’t
wake up and think that I desire nothing more than to allow millions to kill
their own kids, lie about killing, and so forth.
So,
what about Trump? The media did a great job of portraying him as a racist,
sexist, and a foul-mouthed bigot. First, yes he has said a lot of bothersome
things, but his ideals are spot on for leading a country back to the original
American model. That’s why people came out in droves to support him. Second, if
he is so sexist and racist why would he put his trust in his business and his
campaign into the hands of women and people of other races? If you are a Hispanic
or close to Hispanics I understand your dilemma however, do you think he is the
only president elect that has said let’s build a wall, fence, or tighten border
security? He certainly isn’t. He isn’t the only one that has said that he would
deport “illegal” aliens. Do you think that he can just load up all the “illegal”
aliens and tossing them over the border?
This
is what I’m talking about. We must think things through rather than running on
our emotions. I know that it seems that I’m harsh about things when I state
them. I even try to lighten the mood by stating them in a joking manner while
trying to get my point across. I am a joking person and I have joked about this
to even church members. I would even get harsh reactions from them. To me
putting Christ first in everything, even this election, I must contemplate the
whole counsel of God rather than thinking with my own bleeding heart. So,
rather than trying to smooth things over I believe I will stay on course this
weekend I will preach even more about repentance. It has become more evident through
this election season and the aftermath that we need repentance and revival.
I
will leave you with this:
“If
my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek
my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I
will forgive their sin and will heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
